EcoCooling qualifies for Interest free loans from the Carbon Trust on industrial and commercial cooling projects and Salix Funding in public sector projects

SALIX Funding
evaporative cooling

Evaporative cooling is now included in this scheme and has a Persistence Factor of 15.85 reflecting the longevity and sustainability of this technology.

What is the Carbon Trust and what do they do?
Ecocooling evaporative cooling may qualify for a carbon trust loan

Energy Efficiency Loans from the Carbon Trust are a cost effective way to replace or upgrade your existing equipment with a more energy efficient version. This means an immediate benefit from carbon, energy and cost savings. Ecocooling can provide details of Carbon Trust interest-free loans and assist you in completing your application.

Carbon Trust Loans
Ecocooling evaporative cooling and carbon trust loans
EcoCooling evaporative cooling projects can qualify for loans of up to 100% of the full installation cost of a project. These are available over a 4 year period from the carbon trust for small to medium sized enterprises, (See below some examples of recent carbon trust loans received. Click here)

Why do EcoCoolers Qualify?
why do ecocooling coolers quality for carbon trust loans
EcoCoolers can qualify for Carbon Trust Interest-Free loans because they consume less electricity, and hence create less carbon impact, than equivalent air conditioning systems.  EcoCoolers offer a low energy, low capital cost and low operating cost alternative to traditional refrigeration systems.  At 25% of the installation cost and just 15% of the running costs a single EcoCooler producing up to 35kw of cooling for just 1.5kW of electricity can save up to 10,000 kg of carbon per year

Who can Qualify?

Eligibility check list for successful grant application

Less than 250 full time employees
Has turnover less than £35m or assets less than £30m
Is independent of and not owned by another organisation
Is in any sector other than agriculture, fisheries, transport or export related activities
Has been trading for more than 12 months
Expects to save at least £1000 a year on energy.
How do we know
how much
YOU will save?
savings

We have built a sophisticated spread sheet, covering weather conditions, utility costs, performance indicators, hours of work and cooling requirements which directly compares the cost of using traditional air conditioning to cool a building with the cost of using evaporative cooling.  This allows us to work out exactly the size of loan which can be applied for.

For further information on carbon trust loans please contact us and we will arrange for one of our installers to visit you and take you through the application procedure or visit the carbon trust web site link below http://www.carbontrust.co.uk/energy/takingaction/loans.htm

What you need to know
  • Total annual energy bill for water and electricity costs both day and night rates.
  • Loan can only be between 5k to 100k
  • Loan must be paid back over a 4 year period or before if payback is quicker
  • Loan can cover new, upgrade or replacement equipment
  • The savings are calculated by comparing EcoCooling performance against traditional refrigeration systems.
  • A loan can be applied for any time up to the point of installation but NOT after
  • Loan application takes typically 2-3 weeks
  • Loan must be applied for by a director in the company taking out the loan
  • If successful a loan agreement is sent to the company and this must be signed by a director of that company.

  • Once loan agreed work must be carried out within a 3 month period.

Examples of companies qualifying for Carbon Trust Loans

Data Centre cooling in Bedford - A new data centre in Bedford is the first company to receive a £500,000 loan from the carbon trust. The project involves the cooling of a 2mW data centre which will be cooled entirely by CRECS (computer room evaporative coolers) and is expected to have a PUE of 1.1 which will make it the most energy efficient data centre in Europe.

This loan is unsecured and interest free, with no arrangement fees and a straightforward application process. The Loan can be repaid over a period of up to four years and as the scheme is designed for energy savings to cover repayments, the loan will effectively pay for itself.

Marlows Garden Centre Bury St Edmunds - The Carbon Trust loan granted was for £26,000 and  covered approx 90% of the total installation costs of 5  roof mounted coolers.

Marlows are delighted with their application and have now a much happier and more efficient work force and class this as their first step towards their goal of carbon neutrality.

Geoff Neil Litho in Feltham where 4 EcoCoolers were installed to create a total of 20 air changes per hour in the print area where temperatures were exceeding 35°C creating unbearable conditions.  The Carbon Trust loan granted was for £18,500 which covered approx 90% of the total installation costs.

Castle colour print Norwich  4 coolers were installed at a total cost of 30k representing 100% of the total installation costs

Pearson Skips  Thetford  2 coolers were installed at a total cost of  15K and a loan was granted of  12K

Middlesbrough leisure centre - £20,000 loan granted which covered the complete installation cost of 3 side discharge EcoCoolers using fabric ducts to distribute the air to create draught free air at temperatures well below outside ambient temperatures.
